24 delegates from Argentina, Finland, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Romania, and Spain, met on September 26th-29th at the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) in Seville, Spain ?hosted by Cartuja Science & Technology Park, Seville. On September 26th, IURC-LA organized a side event for delegates to be able to exchange knowledge and best practices about the promotion of innovation ecosystems and digitalization strategies. On the next day, the delegation had the opportunity to participate in the pre-conference seminar on Science & Technology Parks and Areas of Innovation, which allowed delegates to meet international experts and discuss the role of innovation ecosystems in addressing global challenges, as well as how to launch, promote and manage Technology Parks.
The conference explored the potential of innovation and technology for climate change mitigation. Different speakers highlighted the relevance of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation in channeling digital technologies and innovation to develop new energy systems, data-driven climate solutions, advanced monitoring systems, carbon-neutral technologies, and behavioral change models, amongst others. In this regard, Science Parks allow innovative companies to thrive and promote the role of emerging technologies oriented to energy efficiency in consumer products and in industry, climate predictions, or material optimization.
